On Sunday, October 9th, 2011 the New York Stock Exchange datacenter experienced a small electrical fire in its New Jersey facility. The fire was quickly extinguished by its FM-200 system and operations were able to continue as scheduled Monday morning.
This event shows that even with the advanced technologies and innovations used in data storage, high level facilities are susceptible to electrical fires. Having clean agent suppression systems such as FM-200 and NOVEC 1230 are ideal for protecting data centers’ sensitive electrical systems. In high-profile facilities such as the NYSE, quickly extinguishing a fire with a suppression system is vital in maintaining business operations and appropriate levels of security.
